The part of the book that stuck out to me was when Panchito was going to the Vets and met Peggy. Then the next day after school he walked her home and went inside her house and met her parents and her dad asked what race he was .When he said Mexican they started to act different toward him. Then the next day Peggy completely ignored him acted like he wasn't there.
This part stuck out to me because I thought that how her parents acted toward Panchito was messed up.I don't think that the parents of any child exclude them from a race that they don't like because then that would cause the children to grow up to be racist and start a whole new racism issue. This part made me want to know what they had against the Mexican race and why.
Reading that part of the book made me realize that are different perspectives toward immigration. It also made me realize that most people immigrate illegally because they want a better life. But then again there still are cons because a lot of immigrants take jobs that poor American families need. I see many perspectives in immigration because after all everyone including Americans are immigrants .This was never originally our land. If Mexicans cant be here then neither can we.
